What is the Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing System?

The Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing system is a plug-and-play live streaming and GPS race tracking platform built specifically for motorsports. Mount the device in your vehicle, connect to internet, tap Start Stream, and your live feed plus real-time map position are broadcast to fans at Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing.

Does the system include GPS tracking?

Yes. The Pixel, the A15 and the GoPro MOD plot your vehicle position live on the race course using the event’s GPX route, so fans follow racers in real time alongside the video feed, and for static uses the position appears as a pin on the map.

Where do fans watch the streams?

Fans can watch live at: Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing

Is the stream public or private?

By default, streams are public. Premium users can enable Private Mode, which hides the stream and GPS position from public viewing.

Setup and Installation

How hard is setup?

Setup is designed to take only a few minutes:

  1. Power on the device
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi
  3. Open the Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing app
  4. Log in
  5. Select your race details
  6. Tap Start Stream

That’s it.

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. The system was specifically built for racers and teams who want a simple “set it and forget it” solution.

What comes in the kit?

Kits apply to the A15 and Pixel devices. Depending on your package, your bundle may include:

  • Preconfigured live stream device
  • USB-C charging cables
  • Roll cage mount
  • Adjustable mount arm
  • Cage clamp

MOD orders work differently. You mail in your own camera, so there is no kit.

Does the device need to be mounted horizontally?

Yes. The device must be mounted horizontally (landscape mode) for proper video orientation and viewing.

Can I flip the image if the camera is upside down?

Yes. The app includes a Flip button that rotates the image before going live.

How long does it take for my stream to appear online?

Typically about 30 seconds after going live.

What internet connection do I need?

You need an internet connection in your vehicle. Recommended options:

  • Roof-mounted Starlink
  • Dedicated internet hotspot

A phone hotspot will not hold a race stream. A stable connection is the most important part of successful streaming.

What happens if I lose signal during a race?

Nothing, just keep driving. The system automatically reconnects and resumes streaming once signal returns.

Why won’t my stream start?

Most streaming issues are caused by weak Wi-Fi signal.

Try:

  1. Verifying you are connected to the correct SSID and then check internet connection strength
  2. Tapping Start Stream again
  3. Waiting 10 seconds

MOD Devices

What is a MOD?

A MOD is your own camera, converted. You mail us your camera, we install the Gearshift Garage live streaming firmware, test it, and ship it back. You keep the camera you already own. It gains live streaming on Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing. The GoPro MOD also sends live GPS position.

Which cameras can be MODded?

GoPro HERO13 Black or newer. No other models.

Do I get a device in the mail?

No. A MOD is a service, not a product. The only thing that ships to you is your own camera, coming back.

How does MOD setup work?

It is simple. We update the firmware, test it, and ship the camera back to you. Turn it on and follow a few steps to get streaming. Full walkthrough on the Instruction guides page.

Why did my camera shut off mid-race?

Heat is the number one thing that takes a stream down. Mount it in the shade with some airflow, and on a USB-C PD port run it with the battery out. If it shuts down, let it cool and power it back on. Also check that Auto Power Off is set to Never. Full walkthrough on the GoPro MOD Startup page.

Does the camera turn on by itself?

Only from a USB-C PD (Power Delivery) port. On a regular USB port, run it with the battery in. On a low-power port, hold the Power button on the left side. The Record button on top starts a local recording, not your stream. Details on the GoPro MOD Startup page.

Does my camera still work normally afterward?

Yes. Every standard camera function is unchanged. The MOD adds live streaming. It does not take anything away.

How does MOD shipping work, and who pays?

Buy the MOD and your order confirmation arrives with the address to ship your camera to. You cover shipping to us. Return shipping is on us. We update the firmware, test it, and ship your camera back at our cost.

Are there mounts or accessories for the MODs?

Mounts and accessories are in stock now. See the Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing collection. Mounts are not included with a MOD order.

What if I am not happy with it?

30-day money-back guarantee. Contact support@gearshiftgarage.us for details if you need a return.

Do I need to use in-cab audio?

Power and Battery

Should I keep the device plugged in?

  • USB-C vehicle power
  • High-output USB charger
  • External battery pack
